ALBERT E PERRY

February 14, 1934 — September 23, 2023

FARMVILLE ,VA

Albert Eli Perry Jr was born in Plattsburgh, New York on Valentine’s Day in 1934.  He spent much of his youth in the forests and loved nature, hunting, and living off the land. He left high school to join the Army during the Korean War and served on the front lines there until the end of the war. He married Laurel Joyce Zipperle after meeting her while on leave in Cleveland Ohio and they settled in Burton, Ohio where they spent over 30 years. He was a self-taught taxidermist and metallurgist with businesses in both.  He was active in St Helen’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Al and Laurie volunteered as foster parents for Catholic Charities and were great friends with many in the nearby Amish community. After leaving Ohio in the 1980’s, Al worked as a rep for heat treats in Alabama and Florida until his retirement. He was very creative and loved to paint, draw, build, and craft.  He also enjoyed collecting unique items and was a successful flea marketer for many years after his retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife Laurel, but is lovingly remembered by daughters Jeannine Rajewski Perry and Shirl Fisher (Perry), son Joshua Perry, grandsons Matthew Rajewski and Joseph Perry, and great grandchildren Alexia and Felix Perry as well as many wonderful family and friends. He will be missed, but he was ready to go home to the Lord and left this world at peace.
