Alma Willie Schmidt Lewis

Lewis, Alma Willie Schmidt, “Meme” of Farmville, VA, age 98, passed away peacefully May 23, 2020. Alma was predeceased by her parents, George and Annie Schmidt; her husband, George W. Lewis, Jr. and four brothers, Aubrey Schmidt, Clarence Schmidt, Alvin Schmidt and Clyde Schmidt.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Joyce L. Davis, husband Jim of Farmville and George W. lewis, III and wife Linda Sue of Rice, VA; three grandchildren, Allyne Todd Johnston, Tara Lewis and Clint Lewis (Mandy) and three great-grandchildren, Emma Lewis, Hudson Lewis and Everly Lewis.

Alma was the sole surviving member of the last graduation class of Rice High School. Alma was a faithful member of Farmville Baptist Church for over 70 years and served as their pianist for many of those years. She lived her life as a true Christian, serving family and God her whole life. She will be remembered as a wonderful Mom and “Meme” and will be deeply missed.

Due to current circumstances, a graveside service will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 27 at 11:00am. Those wishing to contribute are requested to make it to Farmville Baptist Church at 132 North Main St., Farmville, VA 23901.
