Arie Virginia Daniel Elder

Arie Daniel Elder died peaceably on Wednesday, May 28, at her home in Buckingham, VA. She was the wife of the late Patrick Leonard Elder of Red House, VA. Arie was born on Groundhogs Day, February 2, 1918, in Brookneal, VA to the late Charlie B. and Dora E. Daniel. She is the last from a family of 12 siblings. She is survived by her son, Danny E. Elder (Linda) of Buckingham and a daughter, Linda Grey Elder of Buckingham and Henrico County, VA; two granddaughters, Robin Elder Slaughter (Jeff) and Cheri Elder Brickhill both of Buckingham; six great grandchildren, Dylan, Brittany and Jaclyn Slaughter and Micah, Daniel and Nathan Brickhill all of Buckingham. Arie and her husband, Len, lived-in Red House, VA until his death and then she moved back to her “roots” in the Hat Creek Community of Brookneal. She was an active member of Falling River Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church for many years. For the past few years she has been a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Buckingham. The family wishes to acknowledge the loving care of three special caregivers who assisted in her care over the past several years: Brenda Tavano and her daughter, Michelle McKay, of Buckingham and Donna Dixon of Appomattox, VA. A memorial service will be conducted at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, VA on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 3:00PM. The family will greet friends and family 1 hour prior to service.
