Avis Marie Olson Schember

Avis Marie Olson Schember, 91, died Monday, April 9, 2012 at a local nursing home in Farmville. She was born in Hanlontown, Iowa on July 3, 1920, and is survived by her husband of 67 years, Paul W. Schember Sr. For many years they owned and operated Schember’s Fashion Fabrics and Schember’s Sewing Center in Farmville. She also leaves behind a daughter, Joye Schember Mueller (John) of Clinton, Iowa; twin sons, Paul Jr. (Bette) of Virginia Beach and Michael (Sarah) of Farmville; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Halvor and Alma (Toresdahl) Olson, brother, Howard Olson, sister, Genevieve (Olson) Gielow, and a grandson, Greg T. Mueller. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 13 at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmville, of which she was a member for 45 years. Interment will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the audio-video fund at St. John’s Lutheran Church.
