Beatrice H. Oyler, better known as Bea to her friends and Sunshine to her family was born in Roanoke, Virginia on January 17 to Earl R. and Frances J. Harbour. She is survived by her daughter, Frankie O. Todt (Jerry), her granddaughters, Ashlee (Travis) Finch, Morgan Todt and Lauran Todt (fiancé Brandon Leabough) and her great grandchildren, Carson Finch, Colton Finch and Erykah Leabough. Also left on earth to keep her memory alive is her sister, Anne N. (Vance) Wilkins, a very special cousin Dianne R. Bryant and many nieces and nephews.
Bea was a sweet soul who made everyone around her feel comfortable and accepted. She did not know a stranger and was willing to help anyone that she could. She battled with rheumatoid arthritis the majority of her life, but never let it slow her down. She loved to travel and was always up for a roadtrip. Her love for nature, whether it was plants, trees, or animals would show by how she was always pointing out the things others did not notice, such as a blooming bush or a bird flying overhead, especially while driving.
Bea was a crafty and artistic woman who worked in ceramics, stained glass, and sewing. She finally found her true passion in quilting. One of her proudest moments was achieving Master Floral Designer through FTD.
In July, Bea was diagnosed with gallbladder cancer. She attempted to battle it with chemo but unfortunately lost the battle on October 17.
According to her wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. She said she would rather folks go out for a meal or a nice drink and remember the good times with her.
