Carson Theodore Hochstetler

Carson Theodore Hochstetler, 90, of Farmville, VA passed to his eternal home on March 14, 2018. He was born in Ohio on January 3, 1928, to the late Emery and Nettie Wengerd Hochstetler. He lived most of his life in Chesapeake, VA. Carson was known for his quiet faith and was a member of Oak Hill Mennonite Church in Cumberland, VA. Carson was a lifetime milkman from the time he started working, at age 14, until his retirement at age 62, delivering for both Yoder Dairies and Bergey's Dairy. He enjoyed working with his hands and was known for building toy barns. He also enjoyed taking home movies and pictures of family events. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Ruth Miller Hochstetler, 2 sons, Marcus Jay Hochstetler (Janice) from Valley Center, California, Steven Glen Hochstetler (Julie) from Prospect, VA, 1 daughter Elaine Carol Shinsky (Jerry) of Ruckersville, VA, 1 brother Milan Hochstetler from Cumberland, 1 sister Dana Keffer from Chesapeake, VA, 11 grandchildren: Christopher (Marisa) from Oregon, Matthew (Molly) from Virginia, David (Eve) from Florida, Calen (Rachel) from California, Adam (Kathleen) from Washington D.C., Jonathan (Krystal) from Virginia, Nathan and Rachel both from California, Jerry, April, and Joseph all from Virginia, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife M. Dorothy Tennefoss Hochstetler and a sister Avis Kephart.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Oak Hill Mennonite Church, 93 Oak Hill Rd. Cumberland, VA, at 11:00AM with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
Family will receive friends on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
