Charles Irving Noble, Jr.

Noble, Charles Irving, Jr., (89) of Farmville, Va. passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 7. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dollie Ranson Noble, a daughter, Sandra, and her husband, Wilbur Asal, a son, Chuck, and his wife, Donna, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one brother, Vaughan Noble of Richmond, VA. He was preceded in death by one brother, Povall Noble, and three sisters, Eleanor Jackson, Virginia Vaughan and Elva Mae Freeman. He was born in Amelia County on December 21, 1919 to Charles Irving Sr. and Mary Vaughan Noble. After serving in the Army from 1944-1946, he returned home and became owner/operator of the Corner Service Station in Rice, VA. He went on to work at the Weyanoke Hotel and then on to the First National Bank of Farmville in 1955. He served in various capacities at the bank before retiring as a Vice President in 1984. He was a loyal and faithful member of the Farmville United Methodist Church and enjoyed many years as a volunteer at Southside Community Hospital. A devoted husband, father and friend to many, Charles (Charlie or Skeeter) never forgot his Amelia County farming roots as was evident in his love of gardening and getting out in the country and fresh air to enjoy hunting, fishing and golfing. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. The family will receive friends at the Puckett Funeral Home on Sunday evening, August 9th, from 5:00-8:00pm. A graveside service and interment will be held at the Bethel United Methodist Church on Monday, August 10th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to one of the following: Farmville UMC Building Fund, PO Box 64 Farmville, VA 23901; Bethel UMC Cemetery Association c/o Ray Pembleton, 7691 Pembleton Drive Amelia, VA 23002 or; Dr. Donkors medical center to serve families of Ghana, Africa. Checks for the medical center can be made out to ANMMCI and can be mailed to ANMMCI, PO Box 353 Farmville, VA 23901.
