Charles Marvin Johnson

February 21, 1930 — June 21, 2012

Mr. Charles Marvin Johnson, 82 of New Canton in Buckingham County was called home by the Lord on Thursday, June 21, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Pat Johnson; his son W. Scott Johnson of Montpelier; daughter-in-law, Sharon Johnson; and two granddaughters, Amanda and Sarah Johnson. Additional survivors include brothers, Maynard and wife, Arlene; Lewis and wife Carol and sisters-in-law, Peggy and Margie Johnson. Marvin was a life long member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, serving presently as a trustee and formerly as a deacon. He was also one of the longest serving members of the Stonewall Masonic Lodge #200. After receiving an honorable discharge from the United States Army, Marvin worked as a barber and later retired from the Virginia Center for Women as a correctional officer in Goochland. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, June 22, 2012 7:00-8:30pm at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2012 3:30pm at the church with interment in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arvonia Fire Department or to the Buckingham County Rescue Squad.
