David Reese Black, 46 of Farmville, was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on July 15, 2013. Reese joined the United States Air Force after he graduated from Prospect Christian Academy, and served his country for 11 years in Korea, Afghanistan and Spain during Desert Storm. After leaving the military, Reese lived for more than 20 years in North Dakota and in May 2013, he returned to his beloved home of Virginia. Reese was active in his Farmville Life Group an outreach ministry of Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg, VA where he attended church. He is survived by his loving family; parents, David and Judy Black of Farmville; brother, Troy Black of Farmville; son, Travis Black and daughter, Cheyenne Black, both of Minot, ND; nephew, Austin Black and niece, Mia Black both of Farmville; ex-wife, Cheryl Black of Minot, ND; his best friends Jenifer, Kristin and Ben Amos all of Farmville, along with countless other family and friends in Farmville and North Dakota whom where blessed to know him. Reese was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Leona Watson; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Black of NC; paternal grandfather, Troy Black of Cumberland and his father-in-law, Red Quigley of ND whom Reese loved dearly. Reese touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor right up to the end. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 17, from 6-8pm at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville. A funeral service will be held in Thursday, July 18, at 10:00am at Puckett Funeral Home with interment at Westview Cemetery in Farmville.
