Dorothy Jenkins Tucker

Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dorothy Jenkins Tucker, surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Farmville, left us at age 96 on 7/27/19 to her eternal home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Tucker of 65 years. She was second of 5 siblings. Born May 19, 1923, to the late Herndon and Alma Jenkins of Amelia. She worked in a bank in Richmond until, on May 14, 1949 she became the bride of our father, Marshall Atkins Tucker and they resided in our Daddy’s hometown, Drakes Branch, Virginia. To this union was born 2 children who survive her, Deborah Kennedy and Linda Varner (husband Dr. Lawrence Callie Varner). Her prodigy include 4 grandchildren, Lydia, Thomas, Joseph and John-Marshall. She was also blessed and able to see 5 Great Grandchildren and number 6 is on the way. She also had many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Grace Seither of Richmond, Va. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Larry Jenkins Jr., Nancy Webber and Mildred Bass, all of Richmond. While residing in Drakes Branch she worked in the Bank of Charlotte County as it went through all the mergers until it closed. She retired from Stanley Land Lumber Co. and was an active member and treasurer of Mt. Calvary United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Charlotte County H.A. Carrington Chapter 1055 UDC. She was so dedicated to us, our family and her church.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at 11:00AM in Mt Calvary U.M. Church, Drakes Branch. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
