Edward Marion Giles Jr.

Edward Marion Giles Jr. 93 of Rice, VA passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014. He was born in Buena Vista, VA to the late Edward M. and Ella Drain Giles on September 20, 1921. He served his country during WWII as a private in the US Army. He worked construction as a carpenter for Andrews Large and Whitten until he retired. He was married to the late Gracie Franklin Giles and was a member of The Church of God in Farmville. His favorite things to do was going antiquing and spending time with his family. He is survived by his 3 sons; Jerry E. Giles (Joann), Rickey L. Giles (Sharon), Glen M. Giles (Sherry), his daughter; Theresa A. Thompson (Dale) , his brothers; Paul, Fred, Jack, his sisters; Betty Lou Baldwin, Annie Mae D. Shows, Doris Jones, Mary Goodman, Frances Pullman, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and a beloved friend; Jimmy Cyrus. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers; Kenneth, Willey, and sister; Margaret. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 6:00PM - 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Church of God, 3rd Street, Farmville, VA 23901.
