Eleanor Blackwell Walton

Eleanor Blackwell Walton, of Farmville, was granted her angel wings on Wednesday, December 29, 2010. She was born on July 10, 1922 in Appomattox the daughter of the late Everett Wilson Blackwell and Nannie Victoria Smith Blackwell. She was married to the late William "Bill" Walton, the love of her life. She was a devoted and caring mother who loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Her family fittingly referred to her as "the Queen." She was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church and served as a senior regent for the Farmville Moose Lodge. Her hobbies included embroidery, planting flowers and working word puzzles.
She is survived by her sister, Hilda Shrock and husband, Dale, of Appomattox. She is also survived by her children, Billy Justice and wife, Barbara, of Madison Heights; Jean Notestein and husband, Dave, of Appomattox; Carol Dalton and husband, Sonny, of Powhatan; Brenda Ferguson and husband, Donnie, of Farmville; and Wanda Hollowell and husband, Roy, of Williamsburg. She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Justice. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ricky Justice, Tim Justice, Danny Notestein, Kim Mullins, Karen Andrews, Kristi Gordan, JJ Justice, Randy Ferguson, Ashley Ferguson, Kindall Hollowell and Adam Hollowell, and 17 great-grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than to have her family filling her home.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 1. Funeral services at 2:30 p.m. at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home, with interment at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad.
