Elizabeth Cralle Carter, 91 known as Dibby, died Saturday, February 13, 2010. She was the daughter of Robert B. and Eva W. Cralle and was the widow of Earl H. Carter. Dibby graduated from State Teachers College, now Longwood University, in 1939, taught school at Green Bay High School and was a bookkeeper and teller at Planters Bank and Trust Company in Farmville. She sang alto for many years in The Farmville Presbyterian Church Choir and performed with The Rotary Trio. In May of 1938, Dibby was named Miss Farmville. She always enjoyed music and her crossword puzzles.
Dibby is survived by a son, Earl H. Carter, Jr. and wife, Beth; three grandchildren, Nat, Martha and Rachel; a niece, Florence Bell Cupschalk of Norfolk and two nephews, Herman Bell of England and Joe Bell of Norway.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 16, 2010 11:00AM in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening 6:30-8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Edward County Rescue Squad or to a charity of your choice.
