Frances Elizabeth Bradshaw Bruce, 92 of Farmville, passed away Friday, September 9, 2011. She was born May 21, 1919 in Rice, VA to the late Robert Melville and Ruth Elizabeth Hubbard Bradshaw. She was the widow of the Franklin Bruce. She was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Church and remained a very active member in her church. Frances was a teacher at Amelia Academy where she taught 1st grade from 1967 until retiring in 1985. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her other interest was the game of golf and was a very avid golfer. She is survived by her children, Carol Scott Bruce Bachmann and husband, John of Nashville, TN, Franklin Alexander Bruce, Jr. and wife, Janet of Blacksburg, VA and Elizabeth Tanner Bruce Cox and husband, Kevin of Richmond, VA; her brother, Robert Julian Bradshaw; her grandchildren, Page Bachmann King and husband, Fred, of Wallingford, PA, Anne Bachmann James and husband, Bedell of Nashville, TN, Mary Catherine Bachmann Robbins and husband, Gene of Chattanooga, TN, Meredith Pauley Cox, of Washington D.C., Elizabeth Jennings Cox of Richmond, VA and Jacob Alexander Harer of Raleigh, NC and her great grandchildren, Roggen and Charlotte King, Eb, Tanner and Foster James and Grady and John Robbins. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Leigh Bradshaw Gardner. A memorial service will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00am in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home.
