George Byron McCracken, age 88, of Richmond, Virginia entered eternal rest on April 29, 2022.
Byron graduated from Benedictine College Preparatory School and honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1955. After serving his Country he worked for over thirty-five years with Jones Motor Car Company in Richmond selling Cadillac’s. He loved his job in sales and valued his many customers throughout the years. He was born and raised in the northside of Richmond and although he maintained a residence there, he preferred to spend time in the rural homestead of his girlfriend Helen Mika in Buckingham County, Virginia.
He was predeceased by his parents, F. Vernon McCracken Sr. and Eula E. McCracken, and siblings; F. Vernon McCracken Jr., Everett McCracken, Miriam Rowe and Elizabeth “Betty” Cosby. He is survived by his sister Carol Cone of White Oak Pennsylvania, many nieces and nephews, and the love of his life, Helen R. Mika.
He will be remembered as a kind man who was a true southern gentleman.
A service honoring his life will be held June 4, 2022, at 11AM in the Holy Cross Chapel located at 1700 1st Avenue , Richmond, VA. 23222. The chapel is on the grounds of the Holy Cross Cemetery. Internment following the service.
