Henry Odell Shelton age 77 of Prospect, VA passed away on May 28, 2018.

He was born in North Carolina to the late Homer and Bethel S. Shelton on May 10, 1941. He served his country in the US Army and married his wife of 52 years Evelyn Lynch Shelton. Together they raised 3 daughters, he often said “He was surrounded by girls his whole married life, and loved it!” He loved to hunt, fish and work in his garden. He kept busy working the election polls in Prospect, volunteering with Gleaning for the World, playing golf with his senior group and attending Glen Memorial Church. He loved to dance at Pamplin Old Time Dance and was an associate member of Prospect Fire Dept, he also was a supporter of the AA group for 32 years.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, 3 daughters Debra Smith (Gordon) of Farmville, Donna Arrington (Jimmy) of Chesterfield and Diane Scheid (Jim) of Glen Allen, VA. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Lori Nilan (Andrew), Joni Smith, Angela Compton (Nick), Amanda Scheid, Sarah Scheid, Jessica Scheid, 4 great grandchildren and a sister Judy Banton (Wilbur) of Dillwyn, VA.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Shelton and a sister Dale McFadden.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00AM in Glen Memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow in Olive Branch Methodist Church Cemetery, Prospect, VA. Family will receive friends on Wednesday,

May 30, 2018 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
