James Aloysious Shaw

Mr. James Aloysious Shaw, 66 of Rice passed away Wednesday in Farmville. He was born June 8, 1944 in Arlington, VA. He was the son of Lucille Thomson Blackman and the late James A. Shaw, Jr. Mr. Shaw served his country in the United States Navy. Mr. Shaw was retired from Washington Gas Company after many years of service. He loved the outdoors, especially his gardening. James was a talented musician, who loved writing his own songs and poems. While he was in Tennessee he was a regular performer at the Blue Bird Caf in Nashville.

He is survived by his mother, his brothers, Patrick Stephen Shaw (Barbara) of Atlanta, Georgia and Timothy Joseph Shaw (Kathryn) of Rice, his sisters, Maureen (Mo) E. Smith of Rice and Katherine Marie Shaw Swanson of Front Royal, VA, his numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs, Boots and Chow.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, April 15, 2011 11:00am at St. Theresa Catholic Church with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice. Family will receive friends Thursday evening 6:00-8:00pm at Puckett Funeral Home.
