Watson, James Maxey 'Max', 85, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014. He was a Farmville, Va native, born November 2, 1928, and was predeceased by his parents William A. Watson, Jr. and Louise Brightwell Watson, and brother William A. Watson, III. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Baril (Stephen) , Lynne Craig, step-son Harry Wise, their mother Shirley Watson, and grandchildren Bentley and Adair Logue and Lewis Maxey 'Max' Craig. Max was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was a lifelong 'Hokie' fan. He served in the U.S. Air Force and joined WA Watson & Sons Insurance Agency until his retirement in 2008. Amongst his many accomplishments, Max was a founder of “The Woodland” Retirement Community in Farmville. He also served on numerous community boards and organizations, The Woodland, Central Fidelity Bank, Farmville Area Development Corp, the Odd Fellows, Masons, Jaycees and many others during his lifetime. His community leadership benefited many and his love of family will be remembered. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to his caregivers, especially Theresa Barsalla, for their dedication and compassion. Please join the family at Puckett Funeral Home on Monday 6-8 pm for a visitation, and burial Tuesday, 11 am at Spring Creek Baptist Church in Darlington Heights, VA, presided by Rev Ronnie Kiehm of Farmville Baptist Church.
