James R. Stewart passed away peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Sunday, November 27, 2011. He was born in Kane, PA on April 21, 1922. Farmville became his home after transferring here with Stackpole in 1966. He worked there until his retirement in 1982. He was a WWII and Korean War veteran, a member of VFW Post # 7059, lover of nature, his family and his country. Mr. Stewart is survived by daughters, Beth Stewart Carter and Julie D. Stewart of Farmville; grandchildren, Vincent T. Carter and wife, Karen of Hainesville, IL and Heather K. Carter of Farmville; great-grandchildren, Victoria E. Carter of Farmville and Coreen E. Carter, Edward James Carter, Leah M. Carter, all of Hainesville, IL; sister, Sara Besecker of Palmyra and many nieces and nephews and his be-loved companion Phoebe. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Audrey M. Stewart, two sons, Guy Roland and Walter Todd, his parents, Walter and Dora Stewart, brothers and sisters, Gladys Hayes, Martha Fox, Ella Knapp, Edward, Charles, Thomas and John Stewart. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 30 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice. Family will receive friends Tuesday (tonight) from 6 – 8 p.m. at Puckett Funeral Home.
