Mrs. Janie Baldwin Chapman, 80 of Farmville passed away Friday, July 4, 2014 in Farmville. Born April 29, 1934 in Pamplin, VA, the daughter of the late Cleve Willis and Laura Ferguson Baldwin. She is survived by her husband, Billy Chapman Sr., her children, Sharon Chapman Jones (Christian M.) of VA Beach, Billy Chapman Jr. of Farmville and Rob Chapman (Lisa) of Dillwyn; her brother, Wade Baldwin (Hallie) of Pamplin, her sister, Eva Baldwin Tolbert (Dan) of Silver Spring, MD and her two grandchildren, Adam Christian Jones of Los Angeles, CA and Brianna Chapman of Dillwyn; and special family friend Laura Hamby, who helped as her health declined. She was preceded in death by her siblings Grace B.Bucknam, Ann Baldwin Lee, Mary Ellen B. Hamlett, Willis Baldwin, Wiley Baldwin, Howard Baldwin, Ernest Baldwin and David Baldwin. Janie was a long time member of Maranatha Baptist Church in Farmville and taught Sunday school for many years, touching the lives of many young children for Christ. She had a heart for people and passionately shared the Lord. Janie was a people person who knew how to laugh and share joy. She worked as the manager of Shoe Show in Farmville for many years and, more recently, managed Pamplin Antiques, where she shared lasting friendships and memories. Janie was also devoted to her family, never lacking to offer an 'I love you' from the heart,' an encouraging word and always willing to lend a listening ear and share a burden. She spent countless hours with her grandchildren teaching them and sharing her boundless supply of love. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 2:00pm at Maranatha Baptist Church with interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Rice. Family will receive friends on Monday, July 7, 2014 6:30-8:00pm at Puckett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maranatha Baptist Church.
