Jean Carson, 93, of Raleigh, NC passed away at home on December 29, 2018. She was born January 1, 1925 in Elmore City, OK. She was married to her sweetheart of 63 years, Russell Carson, who preceded her in death. They married in 1941 and after numerous Navy moves, settled in Madisonville, VA for 10 years and then Clayton, NC for 34 years. Jean came to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Bill Walters of Raleigh, NC in 2014.
Jean’s life exemplified faithfulness to God and devotion to family. She is also survived and lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Linda Ligon (Chuck), Ricky Carson, Lenny Carson and Dianna Connelly; nine great-grandchildren, Steven Walters (Sarah), Jessica Walters, Brian Ligon, Tyler Ligon, Heather Carson, Molly Carson, Grace Carson, Leanne Reinier (Robert) and Kyle Stone; and two great-great-grandchildren, Arianna Christ and Aleigha Reinier.
Jean was also preceded in death by her identical twin sister and four other siblings; son, Larry Carson (Jannette) and grandson, David Walters (Janice).
A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Madisonville Presbyterian Church, 300 County Line Road, Cullen, VA 23934. Visitation will follow burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Madisonville Presbyterian Church, 1358 County Line Road, Cullen, VA 23934.
