Mr. John Franklin Clements, 60 passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on December 27, 2013. He is survived by his parents, Ralph and Mattie Clements of Cumberland, his daughters Tatum Clements of Avon, NC and Raden Clements Love of Bedford, IN and his granddaughter, Phebe Love also of Bedford, IN. John owned and operated Emerson and Clements Woodyard in Dillwyn, Va. He was a passionate outdoorsman who loved to go on hunting trips, horseback riding and spend time on his beloved farm. He valued spending time with his family and friends doing the things he loved most. His family would like to express love and gratitude to everyone who supported him during his illness. A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 2:00pm at the Emerson/Clements family cemetery on Tatum Road in Cumberland. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Pennsylvania’s Abramson Cancer Center’s Hematologic Cancer Program in Philadelphia, PA. Contributions may be made at www.penncancer.org or by calling 1-215-898-0578. John received great care at this hospital and was very supportive of Dr. David Porter and his colleague’s research.
