John Robert Fulcher

John Robert Fulcher 79 of Prospect, VA passed away on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. He was born in Buckingham, VA to the late James R. and Mary E. Jamerson Fulcher on August 11, 1935. John was a longtime member of the Prospect Fire Department (46 years) and a dedicated member of the Gideons. He has a been a deacon at Glenn Memorial Baptist Church. When not logging or doing community service with the Gideons John was an avid Nascar fan and followed his favorite racer, Dale Earnhardt, until the day he died. He was married to Shirley Oliver Fulcher and together they raised 5 sons. He worked over 37 years as a logger and enjoyed spending his time outdoors in the woods. He is survived by his wife; Shirley, 5 sons; Lynn Fulcher (Mary Ann) of Prospect, Bobby Fulcher (Sarah) of Prospect, Rick Fulcher (Vicki) of Farmville, Michael Fulcher (Tracey) of Keysville, Greg Fulcher of Farmville, 11 grandchildren , 8 great grandchildren, 3 brothers; Joe Fulcher, Henry Fulcher, David Fulcher, 6 sisters; Pearl Fulcher, Elsie St John, May Fulcher, Marie Garrett, Nancy Le Sueur, and Betty Fulcher. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Jim Fulcher. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 2:00PM in Glenn Memorial Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
