Juanita Mae Sarver Wood, born November 23, 1935, passed peacefully with loved ones by her side while the sun was rising April 1, 2025.
Before becoming a devoted wife to William Elbert Wood, Juanita was a nurturing presence in the lives of his six children and steadfast sister to her siblings. Following William’s passing, she remained a dedicated homemaker, raising their two sons and three daughters with strength and care.
Throughout her life, Juanita embraced many roles-Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She was predeceased by her beloved husband William, sisters Minnie, and Mary, brothers Noble and Earl Jr., son Charles Wood, step-children Everett, Henry, Joyce, Bernice, Lily, and Nancy, granddaughter Ashley Hearn, daughter-in-law Sharon Wood, and great grandson Jason Williams.
She is lovingly remembered by her sister Dorothy Seay (Romulus), children Gina Williams (Lynn), Bill Wood, Brenda Hochstetler (Bill), and Dianne Hearn, her grandchildren BJ Hochstetler (Angie), Elisha Edgell (David), Jacob Hearn, Jessica Johnson (Chris), Josh Williams, Kelly Hammock (Clint), Kimberly Haberlin (Chris), Stephanie Hochstetler (Wil) and Zack Wood (Brittany), her great-grandchildren Addi Heath, Autumn Kemp, Briella Johnson, Brooke Williams, Caroline Haberlin, Clint Heath, Colton Williams, Cora Edgell, Deegan Edgell, Jack Williams, Kyllien Johnson, Morgan Wood, Morgen Johnson, Nate Heath, Nathan Kemp, Peyton Haberlin, Tyler Heath, Wesley Heath and Zoe Farley
Juanita spent many cherished years in Farmville living with family and caring for her grandchildren. She was known for her resilience and spirited personality-spunky in nature, honest in opinion and never afraid to speak her mind (even when she thought she was whispering).
She had a special gift for frying rabbit to perfection-a request she fulfilled with pride-and found joy in fishing, visits from her grandchildren, the companionship of her dog Peanut, word search and crossword puzzles, her independence, and a good dose of salt.
Stubborn in the best way, Juanita always knew what she wanted and stood firmly by it. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
