Karen Cochran Rainey

Karen Cochran Rainey, 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Dillwyn, VA on December 23, 2013. She is survived by her husband, Wallace Morris Rainey, of Dillwyn, her daughters, Kimberley Hashim of Dillwyn, Alison Pace (Michael) of Crewe, Page Schinabeck of Henrico, and Ashley Conlon (Michael) of Powhatan. She was the proud grandmother to eight grandchildren, Samuel, Justin, Madison, Todd, Cameron, Leah, Sydney, and Hailey. She was very close to her brothers and sisters in law, Anne Dohn, Steve Rainey (Dianna), Page Morrow (Perry), and Fred Rainey (Angela), and her aunt Katherine Wingo. Also she is survived by her numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Willard Moncure Cochran and Lizette Fulcher Cochran of Crewe and her brother James A.Walker of Smyrna, TN and her sister in law, Katherine Richmond of Crewe, VA. Karen was a long time dispatcher at Crewe Police Department and technician for DHIA. After moving to Buckingham, she was well known and respected for her beautiful Boxers which she bred for nearly 20 years. Her family would like to express their love and thanks to everyone that supported her during her illness especially Page and Perry Morrow, Steve and Dianna Rainey, and her best friends, Jenny Eggleston, Susie Sones, and Pat Benninghove. The family will be receiving guests from 6-8 pm, Thursday December 26, 2013, at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, VA. Interment will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 2:00pm at Downing’s Cemetery near her childhood home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. The family requests that any memorial contributions be made in her name to the Emily Couric Cancer Center at the University Of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville Va.
