Katherine Margaret Thomas, 71, residing in Farmville, Virginia, passed away on May 18, 2023 after a long illness. She was born on January 17, 1952 in Manhattan, New York to the late Gus and Edith (Feola) Panagakos. She grew up in Brooklyn and moved to New Jersey as a teenager.
Katherine worked at the World Trade Center for the Ebasco company and as a craft manager at Michael’s until her retirement to Farmville, Virginia. She was an accomplished crocheter and was generous sharing her talents with friends, family and many charities.
Known as an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers, she and her husband, Warren, traveled to many stadiums following their favorite teams. They met at a bowling league in Closter, New Jersey and bonded over their mutual love of sports.
Katherine is survived by her husband, Warren Thomas, siblings Teresa Blonske, John, Tony, and Peter Panagokas. Katherine was predeceased by her parents and brother George Panagakos. Also surviving are her close niece, Kathy Blackwell, several nieces, nephews, great-niece, great-great nephew and several in-laws.
Katherine’s wishes were to be interred at South Church Cemetery in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Private family services will take place at a future time.
