Mrs. Lucy Charlton Johns, 89 of Buckingham passed away Saturday evening in Buckingham. She was born May 3, 1920 in Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Charlton and Theresa Johnson Charlton. She was a Home Economics Teacher and a wonderful wife, mother and grandma. She was the widow of Frank Hatcher Johns.
She is survived by her five children, Lucy Dahl Swartz and husband, Garland of Richmond and their daughter, Varna Redlich and husband, Jared of Charlotte, NC and children, Lucy and Sadie Louise and a baby boy expecting in May; daughter, Agnes Shepard and husband, Van of Buckingham and their three daughters, Susan Jo Wood and husband, Chris and children, Logan Wallace and Sage, Daisianne Burris and husband, Beau and children, Mattie and Shep and Meghann Page Shepard all of Albemarle County; daughter, Martha Taylor and husband Bob of Lucy Lane and their two daughters, Ellen Hewit and husband, Tad of Staunton and their son, Britton and Harriet Taylor of Fayetteville, West Virginia; son, Frank H. Johns, Jr. and wife, Eileen of Knoxville, TN and their three children, Theresa Benson and husband Gabe of Tennessee, Mary Margaret Chandler and husband, Justin of Georgia and their son, Brooks and baby boy expecting in July and Frank H. Johns, III of Tennessee; and her daughter, Logan Ramos of Buckingham and her children, Fernando Ramos Johns of Minnesota and Francesca Ramos Johns and her son, Alon Carter Ramos both of Cumberland, VA.; her sister, Anne Miller of Richmond, sister-in-laws, Peg Redd of Fork Union and Dottie Charlton of Newport News and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Susan Bailey Johns, grandson, Johns Franklin Swartz, and her brothers, Edgar Jr., Spottswood, and Charles Charlton.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 27, 2010 11:00AM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville. Family will receive friends Monday evening 5:00-7:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Virginia or Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad.
