Margaret is survived by her four children, Peggy Scott Barrett (Jack Kelly), Betty Scott Duncan (Jeff), Porter, Robert (Mary Louise) nine grandchildren and 4 great grandsons, her sister Jane Jervis (Bill) and brother Odis Midkiff (Kathy). Also cherishing her memory are many other relatives and friends. Margaret lived her entire life in Cumberland county until three years ago when she came to the Woodlands in Farmville following a stroke. In addition to a full life raising 4 children on the family farm, Margaret worked briefly at Southside Community hospital and then enjoyed many years working at the Longwood College library. She was very involved with the work of Methodist women at her church, Centenary Methodist, and at the district level. She and Thomas enjoyed traveling with tour groups, and spent many happy evenings square dancing locally and away for special events. Margaret was an active participant for many years with the 'Methodizer' exerciser group in Farmville, and was involved with many other community groups. She was a hard worker, and a faithful, giving friend to countless individuals. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to her excellent caregivers at The Woodlands, Watson Assisted Living. The aides and nurses loved her well, and helped make her last days on this earth comfortable and precious. We are forever indebted to you all for giving your lives and your love to provide our Mother dignity and purpose after she lost so much. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 9, 2014 from 4:00PM – 6:00PM.
