Marion “Mike” Hatcher Jones, age 81 of Farmville, Virginia, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017. He was born in Charlotte County, Virginia on April 10, 1936 to the late James Franklin Jones and Martha Lipscomb Jones.
Mr. Jones retired from B&W as a welder. He was an avid bird hunter, and was a guide with the Copper Mine Hunting Club in Keysville, Virginia. He loved bird dogs, and started raising Tall Man Setters in 1957.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Kermit Jones.
He is survived by his daughter, Gail Carter of Mechanicsville, sons, Randy Marion Jones of Farmville, and Barry Kim Jones (Tabitha) of Cookeville, TN, a brother, Bobby A. Jones of Wichita Falls, TX, a sister, Clara Sowell of Brookneal, seven grandchildren, Randy Matthew, Randy Michael, Edwin James, Ayla Nicole, Ashley Brooke, Jackson Gage, and Chace Logan Jones, and two great granddaughters, Alyssa Grace and Katelyn Mae Jones. He is also survived by his special friend, Betty Kidd, of Farmville.
A graveside service will be held at Trinity Memorial Gardens on Saturday, June 3, at 11:00am. Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family. www.puckettfh.com
