Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Morris Childress, “Dolly”, 83 of Darlington Heights was called home Wednesday, December 21, 2011. She was born May 14, 1928 in Darlington Heights to the late Lawrence Edward and Elizabeth Sue Bailey Morris. She worked at several different companies including, Vepco in Richmond, Darlington Heights Post Office, Prince Edward County Extension Agency and Prince Edward Academy. Dolly also loved catering and cooking for people and was an avid volunteer and community leader. She held fundraisers for numerous organizations. She was a charter member of the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department as well as a member of the auxillary. Dolly also was a member of Just-A-Mere Homemakers Club, Mutual Investment Club, Worsham Baptist Church and was currently attending Buffalo Presbyterian Church. She is survived by her husband, Clinton Atwood Childress; her son, Rodger Morris Childress and his wife, Laura Blankenship Childress, her daughter, Betty Childress Tinsley and her husband, Dallas Tinsley, grandson, Jason Dallas Tinsley and wife, Reannan Lester Tinsley; granddaughters, Jessica McCormick and Samantha Hudson and husband, Brian and her great grandchildren, Corbin Dallas Tinsley, Joshua Bieler, Chloe`, Chase and Bryson Hudson. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles Edward, William Rodger and Albert Hale Morris. A funeral service will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 1:00pm at Spring Creek Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends Thursday, December 22, 2011 6:00-8:00pm at the Puckett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Darlington Heights Volunteer Fire Department, 3348 Morris Creek Road, Pamplin, VA 23958.
