Martha Joan Nuckols

Martha Joan “Joanie” Nuckols 74 of Cumberland, VA passed away on July 5, 2018. She was born in Pennsylvania on March 13, 1944 to the late James and Nellie Barnett Crayton.
She worked as a Civilian Technician for the Navy Ammunitions Distributions and control branch, specifically on shipment of Navy air crew escape system and rocket catapult. She met her husband at N.S.W.C. at Indian Head, MD and married in 1989. Together they moved to Cumberland in 2012 and she was a copartner on Nuckols Christmas Tree Plantation.
She is survived by her husband Richard R. Nuckols, 2 sons; Jeffrey Rhodes from Leesburg, VA, Gregory Rhodes of Maryland, 2 brothers Donald Crayton, Gary Crayton, 2 sisters Barbara Gillam (Earl), Sara Pawlak and 1 brother in law Gerry Bell, all from PA.
She was preceded in death by her 2 sisters Phyllis Bell and Gwendolyn Morrison (Bill).
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 11:00AM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment to follow in Westview Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
