Mary Cox Hearn, age 80, of Cumberland, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Saturday,
December 7, 2024. A devoted teacher for 33 years, Mary’s life was a testament to love, faith, and
service. Her giving spirit knew no bounds, as she tirelessly poured her heart into those around
her, always offering kindness, a warm and contagious smile, and an open door.
Mary’s greatest pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, whom she cherished deeply.
She delighted in sharing their achievements, photographs, and stories with anyone who would
listen. Her love for her family was rivaled only by her compassion for animals, especially her
beloved dogs.
Mary’s faith in God was unwavering, and she served as a beacon of grace and compassion to all
who knew her. Those closest to her are comforted in the knowledge that she has been welcomed
into Heaven, where she surely holds a seat close to The Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Elmo Cox and Eloise King Cox; her husband,
Lewis Clement Hearn; and her sister, Betty Carol Potts.
Mary leaves behind her four beloved children: Nhi (Jeff) Aronheim, Tom (Elizabeth) Hearn,
Alan (Cristine) Hearn, and Bryan (Jasie) Hearn. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren:
Max Aronheim, Sarah Aronheim, Mary Hearn, Val Hearn, Mackenzie Hearn, Walker Hearn,
Chloe Hearn, and Hudson Hearn.
