Maynard Kenneth Johnson Sr.

Maynard K. Johnson Sr., age 85, of New Canton, Va., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, Goode and Louise Johnson, and 3 brothers, Robert L., Joseph P. 'Sonny', and C. Marvin Johnson. He was also predeceased by his wife of 37years, Janette G. Johnson. Survivors include their daughter, Darlene L. Johnson, of Midlothian; son, Dr. M. Kenneth Johnson Jr.(Debbie), of Mt. Pleasant, S.C .; two granddaughters, Rebekah J. Dollar ( Ben) and Anna J. Weaver (Brett); and two great grandsons, Avery and Hudson Weaver. He is also survived by his wife of 11years, Arlene Amos Johnson; his brother, Lewis Johnson of Fork Union; and several nieces and nephews. Maynard proudly served for 21 yrs in the U.S. Air Force, as a Navigator, and achieved the rank of Lt. Col., retiring in 1971. The family would like to thank Dr. David Campanelli & Dr. James T. May, III for their compassionate medical care. Special thanks to his caregivers, for being so kind and attentive in the care they provided & made it possible for him to stay at home as his health declined. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014,at Mt.Zion Baptist Church, New Canton, Va. The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to; Mt.Zion Baptist Church, Building Fund 1148 Chapel Rd, New Canton, VA 23123 Puckett Funeral Home is serving the family.
