Michael J. Costello, 88, of Charlotte Court House, VA passed away on
August 26th, 2023, on a beautiful, Saturday evening.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Michael and Isabell Costello.
He was also predeceased by his sister, Margaret, and his brother in
law, Bob Flaherty and Ike Reala.
Mike grew up in Brooklyn, and at the age of 18 he in listed in the
Army and served in the Korean War with the 82nd Airborne paratroopers,
from August 1952- 1955.
Mike was an opportunist that always thought out of the box. He not
only had many talents but also, many jobs- from owning a hot dog
truck, soda pop and ice cream pallor to being a butcher.
He was a skilled mason and later, the owner of Shamrock Construction
company.
Among many interests, Mike played chess, he liked to hunt and fish,
play golf and LOVED to read books. Often reading a book daily, and
even to the end, his mind was sharp as a whip.
Mike had a great imagination, sense of humor and understanding of
life; all which remained even during the most difficult of times; he
never held a grudge and always found the good in everyone and in every
situation.
He was an incredible Father, who loved his children, grandchildren, and wife above all else. He was the beloved husband to Patricia Costello, cherished brother to Donna Reala, Fran Flaherty and Margaret
Thomas. Loving Father to Lisa, Debbie, Michael and Matthew and step
children, Lisa, Bryan and Tina, devoted grandfather and survived by his nieces, nephews and other beloved family members.
Mike passed away just 2 days after his 88th Birthday, feeling
fulfilled with his life, and knowing he was loved by all his family.
He had a larger than life personality; he lived a full life, one to
remember and worth celebrating!
Please leave a memory with your favorite and/or fun memory with Mike.
