Robert Edwin Fowlkes

Mr. Robert Edwin Fowlkes, 69 of Burkeville passed away Wednesday in Burkeville. He was born August 1, 1939 in Prince Edward County. He was the son of the late James H. and Mabel Elliott Fowlkes. He was the husband of Jean Gates Fowlkes. Mr. Fowlkes was a retired farmer. He served on the Prince Edward ASC County Committee for more than 30 years. He was a retired rural letter carrier for the Farmville Post Office. He was the secretary/treasurer of the Southside Rural Letter Carriers. Mr. Fowlkes was an active member and deacon for Bagby Memorial Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and was proud to be a Virginia Tech sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Gates Fowlkes; his sons, Robert S. (Sam) Fowlkes and wife Angela of Burkeville and Alton B. Fowlkes and wife Stephanie of Rice; his grandchildren, Ariel and Hunter Fowlkes and his brothers, James W. (Billy) Fowlkes and Eugene (Boo) Fowlkes both of Burkeville.
A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00AM at the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home with interment in Bagby Memorial Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Friday evening 6:00 8:00PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Burkeville Fire and Rescue Department or to Bagby Memorial Baptist Church.

Cemetery:
Interment will follow the service on Saturday at Bagby Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation:
A visitation will be held Friday 6:00 - 8:00PM at the funeral home.

Service:
A funeral service will be held Saturday 11:00AM in the chapel of the funeral home.
