Robert Wayne Emert, “Bob, Bob Robert or Uncle Bob” departed this life and entered glory on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Lynchburg General Hospital, Lynchburg, VA. No more pain, no more sorrows, no more struggles – just joy unspeakable with family gone before.
Bob was born on February 11, 1941 in Sevierville, TN, the third son of William Freeman Emert and Ruby Loveday Emert. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Nelda McPherson Emert, his brothers Johnny Freeman Emert and Gordon Malcom Emert. He is survived by his son George Christopher Emert( Margaret); grandchildren, Scott Emert, Rebecca Emert; his sister Annette Emert Lowe (Virgil); sisters in-law; Peggy Fariss Emert, Deloris Hogan Emert; nieces, Rhonda Arnold (Larry), Cindy Emert, Melissa Kuegler (Bill), Michele Grimsley (Keith) Teresa DiStefano (Paul), Sharon Zavilla; nephews, Toby Emert , David Emert (LeAnne), Gordon McClary (Anna); and many great nieces and nephews.
Bob was “a character’—always joking around, always on the top of every deal. He was full of advice (mostly all good) and had a plan for every kind of invention. If there ever was a “wheeler and dealer” it was Bob. He loved family. All of the “Emert Clan” was special to him and all of the “add-ons” were special too. He was an accomplished cabinet maker and loved woodworking. He built many sheds, tables and many other various “what-nots.” Bob was a retired State Trooper and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He was also a farmer, an active member of the “Old Farts Club,” and a faithful member of Bread of Life Fellowship.
Bob was very close to his brothers, Johnny and Gordon and he wanted to “see the boys!” Whatsoever his hand found to do he did it with all of his might—Bob will be missed but always in our hearts. But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 2:9
