Robert Garnett Woodson Jr

Robert Garnett Woodson Jr., “Bobby” went to be with the Lord on January 30, 2025 at Johnston Willis Hospital in the loving presence of his wife.

Bobby was born January 14, 1948 in Farmville, VA.

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilda “Sue”; father, Garnett and brother, Steve. 

He is survived by his wife, Laura and two children, Elizabeth and Scott and many other relatives and friends.

Bobby attended Cumberland County Schools, earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and went on to earn his law degree at the University of Richmond. He opened a private practice in Cumberland right across the street from the courthouse and later served as Commonwealth Attorney.

 After many years he was nominated and sworn in as a judge serving Cumberland, Prince Edward, Appomattox and Buckingham Counties in General District court.

Bobby was well known as a fair judge in the courtroom and an eager friend to the community. He loved spending time with family and chatting on the phone with many friends and colleagues.
