Ruth Kelsey Simpson

Ruth Pearl Kelsey Simpson, 101 of Prospect, VA passed away peacefully at her home on February 11, 2016.
She was born in Farmville, VA to the late Philander Kelsey Sr. and Ruby Baldwin Kelsey on August 20, 1914. She was married to the late Averette Simpson Sr. and loved quilting, ceramics and cooking for her family. She was a life time member of Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church and was inducted as a life member of the Presbyterian Woman.
She is survived by her son Averette Simpson (Mary K) of Prospect, VA, a daughter, Susan S. Shirley (Bill) of Churchville, VA, a brother, Carl Kelsey (Sadie) of Farmville, VA, a sister, Nancy Williams (Sonny) of Newport News, VA, 9 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Daniel Averett Simpson, a great grandson, Luke McCloud Shirley, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11:00AM at the Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church. Family will receive friends on Friday February 12, 2016 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
