Teddy Carnell Owens Sr

February 5, 1953 — April 20, 2017

Teddy Carnell Owens Sr. of Cumberland, Virginia went to be with the Lord April 20, 2017 at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond, Virginia following an extended illness.

Teddy was born in Grundy, Virginia and was the son of the late Florence and Arthur Owens Jr. He was also preceded in death by his infant son, Brian Scott Owens. Teddy is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Midge Owens. He had four surviving children; Rebecca Boyd and her husband Daniel Boyd, Carolyn Owens, Miranda Watson and her husband Jordan Watson, and Teddy Carnell Owens Jr "T.J.". Teddy was the loving grandfather of three granddaughters; Kaitlin Stinson and Kassandra and Kailey Boyd and two grandsons Breyson and Blayne Watson. Teddy was also survived by two brothers; Eddie Owens and his wife Debbie, Steve Owens and his wife Gail along with his special niece and nephew, April Wise and Brandon Owens. He was also the "adoptive" father of many others.

Teddy was an active member of Payne Memorial United Methodist Church in Cumberland Virginia. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and NASCAR fan.

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, April 22 from 6pm-8pm at Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville Virginia. Funeral services will be held at Payne Memorial United Methodist Church at 1pm on Sunday, April 23 followed by a private graveside ceremony at the family cemetery.

Pallbearers for Mr. Owens will be Sherrif Darrell Hodges, Deputy Chris Stimpson, Trooper Rick Chambliss, Brandon Owens, Wesley Wise and Randy Dawson.
Honary pallbearers will be Larry Gray as well as members of Rock Mount Hunt Club.
