Thomas Anthony Gant

Thomas Anthony Gant, 66 passed away on April 30, 2017 at home with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. Gant and Margaret B. Rubottom and a brother, Eddie Dean Gant.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Loretta G. Gant, as well as two children, son Thomas Eric Gant of Crewe, VA and Trisha G. Currin (Lyle) of Lunenburg, VA, two grandchildren, Justin Eric Gant and Sterling Carlyle Currin, three brothers, Gerald Fuller (Betty Jack), Robert Fuller (Kay), Harold Fuller (Becky) and two sisters, Peggy Sandger (Chuck) and Gwendolyn Beale.

He was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky on December 3, 1950 and he traveled many places as his father was in the military. Growing up, he loved the time he spent with his Pappy and Mommy, who owned a small country store in Granada, Mississippi, where he worked as a teenager. Tom loved to share the wonderful stories about his time there and all the love he felt. Tom ended up in Crewe, VA eventually meeting the love of his life, Loretta. Tom led a full life enjoying spending time with his family and two wonderful children he loved unconditionally. He also had three fur babies he treasured. Tom loved people and never knew a stranger, always offering a smile to all he’d meet. “Old ladies and babies loved him”- that’s what he would say! He was an avid NASCAR fan, he loved to hunt, especially during deer season spending time at the cabin with his buddies. Tom loved water and was an excellent skier. In the last few years, he and Loretta acquired a whole new family at the lake in their “Little slice of Heaven” at Buggs Island.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.org in honor of his brother Eddie Dean Gant.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00PM in the chapel of Puckett Funeral Home. Family will receive friends on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00PM at Puckett Funeral Home.
