Vance Leon Coffey, age 56 passed away in his home, March 17, 2011 surrounded by his wife, family and friends. He was born in Baltimore M.D. on November 1, 1954 to Leon Rife and Naomi Kathleen Coffey. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Dabney Lancaster Community College with an associates degree. He worked for the Virginia Department of Forestry as a Natural Resource Manager I and as a Forest Management Specialist for 21 years.
He was married to Carla Cash Coffey for 23 years and has 3 sons: Aaron Coffey and wife, Jennifer from Louisville, KY: Sawyer Coffey from Cumberland, VA: River Coffey from Cumberland, VA; and his daughter, Ayla Coffey from Cumberland, VA. He is also survived by his sisters; Teresa Bartley and husband, Larry of Crimora, VA and Anita Coffey of Saluda, VA; his brothers, Russell Coffey of Verona, VA and Chris Coffey of Waynesboro, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a man who loved his family and the outdoors.
A memorial service will be held at the Puckett Funeral Home in Farmville, on Sunday March 20, 2011 at 2:00pm with family visitation until 4:00pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the childrens college fund, c/o Carla Coffey, 420 Game Farm Rd, Cumberland, VA 23040.
