William F. Brown

William “Bill” F. Brown, 81 of Buckingham County died Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Farmville. He was born July 9, 1930 in Spring Lake, North Carolina, the only child of the late William Franklin and Nellie Griffin Brown. Mr. Brown dedicated years of service in the United States Marine Corp and served in combat during the Korean War. He retired from Longwood College in 1994 and dedicated his time to Smyrna United Methodist Church and many community services. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy Ayers Brown. He is survived by his son, James “Jimmy” Marshall Brown of Buckingham, his daughter, Mary Brown Farrish of Buckingham, three grandchildren, Leigh Ann Brown, James Franklin Brown and William Michael Brown and Four great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2011 2:00pm at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2011 6:00-8:00pm at Puckett Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buckingham County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 444, Dillwyn, VA 23936.
