William McKinnon Johnstone, 77, of Farmville, VA formerly of Richmond, VA passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 peacefully surrounded by his family.
He was born August 18, 1947 to the late Col. John O. Johnstone and Margaret C. Johnstone of Richmond Virginia. Mr. Johnstone is survived by his wife Jeanette S. Johnston, son John Slayton Johnstone (Suzy) of Charlottesville and daughter Margaret McKinnon Johnstone of Miami, FL. One much loved granddaughter Leah Katherine Johnstone of Charlottesville, VA, one sister Sherri Patteson of Florida, and a long time faithful friend Grady Phelps of Richmond.
He was a member of the Appomattox PE Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school. He was a well-known member of the community. Mr. Johnstone, fondly called “Kin” loved UNC basketball and enjoyed his career as a talented software salesman. Another passion he had was a courier where he would travel delivering highly urgent items needed all over the East coast, he was commonly called the Baltimore Bullet. He loved most to be with his family and granddaughter and to preach and minister to the community and bring people to the Lord. He loved to give back and help anyone in need. A family visitation will be held at Puckett Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM and a funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at 3:00PM with interment at Westview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Appomattox P E Presbyterian Church or the P E County Rescue Squad.
