William Morgan Bill Smith II

William Morgan Bill Smith II, 64, of Cumberland, passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2010, in Charlottesville.
Bill was the son of Barbara Hope Almond Smith of Cumberland and the late Meriwether Vaughan Smith. He was the former editor of The Cumberland Bulletin newspaper and executive director of Central Piedmont Action Council.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother, Meriwether Vaughan Smith Jr. of Cumberland; three children: Kathryn Smith Hopgood and her husband, Adam, of Seoul, South Korea; Elizabeth Meriwether Riddick and her husband, Phesanton, of Virginia Beach; William Morgan Smith III of Farmville; and one granddaughter: Eva Fontaine Hopgood.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Johns Memorial Episcopal Church, 400 High Street, Farmville. A graveside committal service will follow at Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, Ca Ira. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:30 PM, Friday, November 12, 2010, at the Parish House of Johns Memorial Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church for property maintenance or to Johns Memorial Episcopal Church for the music program.
