2024. William was born on April 20, 1943 in Meherrin, VA. He was preceded in death by his
parents, Otis H. Nelson and Mabel Newcomb Nelson, his daughter Terri Ann Nelson, and his six
brothers and sisters. He is survived by the love of his life of 52 years Patsy Teague Nelson, 3
daughters Sherry Nelson, Debra Nelson Shifflett (Chris), & Cheryl Nelson Ford (Sherman), 6
grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many friends and family.
William worked as a logger and trucker (known as Log man and then Scooter) for most
of his life, even owning his own businesses. Later in his life, he drove cars and delivered parts
for Haley of Farmville. He loved going fishing and also watching Nascar, the Gaither’s, the news,
and westerns on TV. He loved the Lord and his family with all his heart and will always be
remembered for the love and care he had and showed for his family and friends. The family will
receive friends and family Friday March 22, 2024 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm with a memorial
service to start at 3:00pm at Liberty Christian Church, Green Bay VA.
